Jehan Brietat arrived in Burgundy from Italy around 1340 to serve as page in the castle of Montaigue. By the end of the 16th century the name had morphed into Brintet, and by a century later the family had become owners of some vines in Mercurey. Today this roughly 35-acre domaine is in the hands of Veronique and Luc Brintet, who have managed the estate since 1984. This single-vineyard Mercurey is an elegant red Burgundy with aromas of blackberries, raspberries and vanilla and a powerful structure with fine tannins and a long, fruity finish.
