Bill Samuels, Sr., simply wanted a whisky he would enjoy drinking. That's why Maker's Mark is made with soft red winter wheat, instead of the usual rye, for a full-flavored bourbon that's never bitter or hot. To ensure consistency, Maker's Mark rotates every barrel by hand and age their bourbon to taste, not time. Each and every bottle of Maker's is still hand-dipped in signature red wax at their distillery in Loretto, Ky., just like Bill would have wanted.

Ahhhh! The good stuff!

Maker's Mark has an exceptionally smooth, rich taste that leaves you completely satisfied. The flavor is light and just the right amount of sweet.

Maker's Mark - not for me!

I did once try Maker's Mark whisky. I picked it off the shelf because because it was on sale, so I thought why not? It was not good. I don't think it has that wonderful smooth flavor I get with most of the whisky I purchase. This might be good if your looking for a less expensive option, but keep in mind it's only 90 proof.

Its good, but not great, whisky.

Maker's is a good solid whisky, no frills and tasty. It doesn't bite like some at it's pricepoint and blends perfectly with a touch of your favorite dark soda. Easy to drink and does the job. It's whisky for the working man. If it's a Friday night with the guys Maker's is fine whisky, but if you are looking to treat yo'self try picking something a little more top shelf.

Overpriced and underwhelming

Honestly, it is a really mediocre bourbon, perhaps at a lower price point we could all agree that its a great bourbon but for the price it really is mediocre. It's sharp and sweet, carries a lot of caramel, malt and warmth and then it just kind of stays there. Consistenly pushing out those same notes.
